On Wednesday 22nd August 148 avid runners took part in The Resurgam Trust’s Annual 3K Fun Run around the Old Warren area.

This was Resurgam’s fifth successful year running this family fun evening organised primarily to promote a healthy activity involving the community and also to raise funds for the development of LaganView Gym.

The Fun Run was started by the Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Uel Mackin and Resurgam’s Chairperson Mr Philip Dean.

Each runner, on completion, was presented with a medal, a fruit bag and a bottle of water. There were also awards given to the winner in each of the six categories; Over 40, Male 16+, Female 16+, Under 16, Under 5 and Parent ‘n’ Pram.

In addition to the run there was a range of health information resources available on the night including Cancer Focus NI, Diabetes UK, The Resurgam Trust and Tesco. LaganView Gym was also able to offer weight and height checks to all interested runners and alternative therapists were also available to provide free leg massages to all runners.

Thanks, must also go to the Lisburn SAFE project whose volunteers yet again patrolled the route at various stages along the way to ensure the safety of all runners.

LaganView Community Gym Steering Group would like to thank their sponsors which included Tesco, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Kennedy Business Systems and Coca-Cola Hellenic.

A fantastic £510 was raised which will be used towards new equipment for the gym.
