On Thursday 4th October 2018 the Resurgam Trust were delighted to welcome Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Co Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE to LaganView Enterprise Centre for her to present us with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant commented on the night that she was delighted to see “Resurgam and its volunteers had taken responsibility for their communities”. Walter Rader OBE, the Northern Ireland Representative of QAVS also stated the significance of the Award which places Resurgam as one of 120 organisations across NI to have been granted the Award during the last 16 years.

Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Cllr Uel Mackin said “Resurgam’s commitment to developing social enterprises over the years has played an important part in the area’s social and economic regeneration and business growth.  They have successfully identified what services need to be delivered locally and have done so while promoting inclusion and changing lives. With this in mind, on behalf of the Council, I wish to congratulate the Trust on receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.”

As part of the Presentation Ceremony Trish McCormick and Bobby McCormick received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, Crystal and Citation, from the  Lord Lieutenant on behalf of the Resurgam Trust.

During the event Resurgam’s member groups and social enterprises were represented by volunteers from each respective group who received individual certificates to recognise their groups contribution to Resurgam Trust receiving this prestigious award.
