The staff at Laganview Enterprise Centre and the Resurgam Trust were very concerned this year that they would not be able to host their annual coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support due to Covid- 19 restrictions and guidelines. However, after much planning and imaginative thinking on Friday 25th September 2020 they were able to hold a socially distant coffee morning. This year there was an added ‘new twist’ which encouraged families to host their own ‘coffee morning’ type event within their own family bubbles with all funds being raised added to the total of the main event.
Sharon Gibson, one of the organisers’ said “I would really like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising for Macmillan Cancer this year, it was certainly different to other years but we are delighted to have been able to continue our fundraising efforts for this very worthy cause. Not only did we raise some funds for charity, but I also believe we raised the spirits of those who took part in the activities as well”
A fantastic amount of £1,100 was raised from the various events held. The Resurgam Trust aim to support their member groups to host as many of their annual events as possible, in these extremely difficult times whilst adhering to the Governments guidelines, as they believe it is vitally important for people’s mental health to try and maintain a sense of normality and hope for the future.
