Help Kids Talk supports local author Lindsay Pollock

Finding herself with some spare time during lockdown Lindsay, mum to three children, Evie, Elsie and Arthur from Knockmore in Lisburn did something she always wanted to do, she wrote a children’s book, her brother Gareth drew the illustrations.

The story is about kindness and recognising and accepting the differences in others. Zilly is a handsome zebra with a stammer, whose silence is misinterpreted as arrogance. Zilly meets Connie the crocodile who has lost her tail. Connie tells Zilly he could never understand how she feels because he is so handsome. When Zilly starts to speak Connie realises looks can be deceiving and anyone can have problems. The book emphasises the importance of being kind to everyone you meet. We are all unique and that is what makes us special!

Lindsay’s book is included in the Help Kids Talk resource pack for parents who complete the basic awareness webinar.
