On Wednesday 23rd August 175 avid runners took part in The Resurgam Trust’s Annual 3K Fun Run around the Old Warren area.

This was Resurgam’s fourth successful year running this family fun evening organised primarily to promote a healthy activity involving the community andalso to raise funds for the development of LaganView  Gym.

The Fun Run was started by the Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Tim Morrow and Resurgam’s Chairperson Mr Philip Dean after a ten minute warm up kindly taken by Will Williamson, Simply Fit NI.

Each runner, on completion, was presented with a medal, a fruit bag and a bottle of water. There were also awards given to the winner in each of the six categories; Over 40, Male 16+, Female 16+, Under 16, Under 5 and Parent ‘n’ Pram.

In addition to the run there was a range of health information resourcesavailable on the night including opportunities for early detection of underlying conditions through blood pressure and cholesterol testing, weight and height checks and cancer awareness and support information.  Alternative therapists were also available to provide free leg massages to all runners.

A big thank you goes out to those who had stalls on the night.  This included Boots Pharmacy, NI Holistic Outreach Services, Marie Curie Cancer, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Cancer Focus, intelligent Health, The Resurgam Trust and LaganView Gym. Thanks must also go to the Lisburn SAFE project whose volunteers yet again patrolled the route at various stages along the way to ensure the safety of all runners.
