Adrian Bird

Adrian Bird
Trust Director

Adrian Bird has been involved in regeneration for the past 25 years and is currently employed as the Trust Director of The Resurgam Community Development Trust.  Adrian holds a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management.  Adrian has worked for the past 20 years within the social enterprise sector in Lisburn and was a founding member of seven social enterprises, including New Horizons Credit Union Ltd and Lisburn Community Self Build, of which he is still a Director.

During the last 20 years he has successfully managed numerous funding contracts and has an array of skills and experience in organisational change and development, compliance and management.  Adrian has sat on the local Lisburn/ Castlereagh Peace III Cluster Partnership and chaired both South Eastern Social Investment Fund and Early Intervention Lisburn steering groups.

Denis Paisley

Denis Paisley
Regeneration Manager

Denis Paisley is the Regeneration Manager for The Resurgam Community Development Trust and is a committee member of Old Warren Community Association.  His experience and qualifications are based upon his involvement in community youth work, community education and latterly regeneration. Having qualified in University of Ulster as a professional Youth and Community Worker he has since completed a Higher Diploma in Sustainable Investment at Ulster Business School which has helped in securing capital build projects. 

Denis is involved in the development and management of projects within the community which includes attracting investment and organisational change. Denis is a director of Laganview Enterprise Centre and Lisburn Community Self Build, giving him a knowledge of community based social enterprise.  He sits as a community representative on Lisburn Surestart and Early Intervention Lisburn.

Jason Abraham

Social Economy Business Manager

Jason Abraham is currently the Social Economy Business Manager with Resurgam Community Development Trust.

Jason has an ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management and has worked within the social economy business sector for over 18 years. Until recently Jason managed a SE business called Laganside Business Services for 15 years and currently is a volunteer director of 3 further SE businesses namely Lisburn Community Self Build Ltd, Lisburn Community Inns Ltd and New Horizons Credit Union Ltd.

Jason has also been involved in the creation and development of a number of other social economy businesses offering administration, management and marketing skills to business managers, staff and boards of directors.

Sharon Gibson

Sharon Gibson
Administration and Finance Officer

Sharon Gibson has worked within the Community/Voluntary sector for the past 18 years. Sharon is a founding member and director of New Horizons Credit Union and is very experienced in all aspects of financial management including PAYE, VAT returns and preparation of company annual accounts. Sharon has completed a L2 Award for Landlords through Chartered Institute of Housing. Sharon has previously worked on a number of European Union funded projects and has successfully managed numerous successful family and victim/survivor projects. Sharon is also currently a Director of Lisburn Community Self-Build Limited.

Vince Curry
Technical Business Link Worker

Vince worked in the private and the public sectors for over 20 years he has worked for a number of leading companies including Ulster Bank, Halifax, Yell and Belfast City Council. He brings with him to the 3rd sector a great deal of experience in People Development / Management, Business Development, Event Management, Marketing and PR.
 
Vince has been involved with Resurgam for a number of years now he was initially a volunteer with the Trust then he applied and was successfully recruited (March 2013) for the post of Technical Business Link Worker. His role involves helping to deliver Resurgam's Empowering Youth Project which is funded by the Big Lottery. The programme is designed to support young people most at risk across Lisburn. Vince is committed to ensuring the young people at risk are given the necessary support structures, capacity, improved personal development and improved skills to help them negotiate the transitions in their lives.  
 
Vince is also heavily involved in the marketing of the Trust as a whole and a number of its social enterprises. He has recently negotiated a monthly radio slot with Lisburn 98FM where he hosts a monthly show on behalf of the Trust which takes place between 12 – 2 on the first Wednesday of every month. He is also involved in local politics and in his spare time enjoys travelling over the world to support Northern Ireland. He also recently passed an Advanced Diploma in Social Enterprise at Ulster University. 

Alison Holdsworth
Youth Training Officer

Alison Holdsworth was born and raised and remains living in the Lisburn area with her husband and three children. Alison has worked in the community / voluntary sector for 20 years and has experience in the field of youth work, community development and community safety. Alison is committed and passionate in working with young people and has over fifteen years’ experience working in the field of drug and alcohol education, sexual health and anti-social behaviour awareness, she is currently employed as the Youth Training Officer to deliver Resurgam's Empowering Youth Programme which is being funded by the Big Lottery, and is also trained to deliver the Mentoring for Achievement Programme for school in the Lisburn area which is funded by the social investment fund. Alison is currently studying a BSc Honours Degree in communication with counselling at Jordanstown University and holds a training and education qualification. Alison is fully trained in the delivery of first aid and health & safety at work. Throughout her career she has managed numerous funded projects and has developed a good understanding of governance, finances and strategic planning. 

Gillian Lewis 
Healthy Living Manager

Gillian holds a BSc (hons) degree in Social Sciences and Health specialising in Health Promotion from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh and a MSc in Health Services and Public Health Research from Aberdeen University. Gillian has worked for the majority of her career within Public Health in NHS Grampian a Health Board in the North East of Scotland holding health promotion specialist and public health specialist posts culminating as Head of Health Improvement/Health Promotion a post held for approximately 5 years. Gillian has experience in service development and management, people management, training, project and performance management and evaluation. On returning to Northern Ireland Gillian has acted as an advisor to the Resurgam Board on matters relating to health before taking up a fixed term contract as Healthy Living Manager in April 2014.

Sarah-Ann Owens 
Community Engagement Worker

Sarah-Ann hold a BA (Hon) Degree in Youth and Community work from University of Cumbria, Lancaster. Sarah-Ann has worked in the Youth, Community and Voluntary sector for nearly 2 years now. She started of as Youth support worker for Carrickfergus YMCA and then progressed to Health Worker at Carrickfergus Health Hub. 
 
She has worked in different schools in Carrickfergus & Larne. She works each summer in different youth clubs and actively volunteers at summer camps each year. She is very active within her local community, running events for young people and helping assemble projects for the young people and communities.
 
Now Sarah-Ann is working in as a Youth support Worker for the Education Authority in Carrickfergus and is based in Downshire School. She is from Carrickfergus but knows the areas of Glenmore & Low road very well and still has family who remain in these areas. Sarah-Ann has 3 years of voluntary experience working within a range of communities and youth groups in England.

Angela Wright 
Administrator for Early Intervention Lisburn 

Angela has grew up and still lives in the Lisburn area with her partner and son. She has vast experience in the private and public sector having spent 17yrs within the travel industry both as a consultant and a finance assistant. She has also worked for the NISC and Next PLC. 

In terms of qualifications Angela has gained Levels 1-3 in RSA Text & Word Processing and also Levels 1 & 2 in OCR SAGE Computerised Book-keeping Skills. Along with her qualifications she has attended numerous courses in manual handling, fire safety, first aid, h&s, food hygiene and child protection.  

Angela has and is very active in her local community assisting with fundraising events for a number of local organisations. In the spare time that she does get she enjoys spending it with family, travelling to new place and playing/watching most sports.

Laura Smith 
Community Based Youth Mentor

After making the journey from a youth participant in her community to being a positive role model for young people, along with working with young people in her role as an SEELB Youth Support Worker Laura has completed her Level 2&3 Health and Social Care First Diploma. A passionate sports enthusiast she not only participates in football, boxing and pool but has gained qualifications at grassroots level in Football, Basketball, Tag Rugby, and Gaelic. Her volunteer youth work has seen her personally develop and gain her OCN level II & III Youth Work and gained other qualifications in healthy relationships and positive behaviour for young people. Laura is a hard working young person and strives to make a positive impact within her community with a view to share her experiences further afield.
